Five Paracas Elongated Skulls

Over 300 of These Skulls Were Dug Up in Peru

Paracas is a desert peninsula located within the Pisco Province in the Ica Region, on the south coast of Peru.  Peruvian archaeologist Julio Tello found an entire village and graveyard in this region, and even though they date to 3,000 years old, the artifacts were very well preserved because of the extremely dry desert climate.

A DNA analysis of the elongated Paracas skulls has shown that they may not be human and that they could come from an entirely new species that fits outside of the known evolutionary tree.

This belief stems from a test that showed a DNA sample taken from the skulls turned out to be unlike any known human DNA.
